October Art Studio

Most of the students created line drawings entitled "Bad Hair Day". We needed something to fill the space in the foyer, prior to beginning our choice projects. The lovely ballerina is from 1st quarter. She was constructed by three talented 8th grade students. There is also a photo of our entry for the scarecrow contest. Art Studio students and Art Club students participated in the construction of the scarecrow.

Student Art Work

The weaving is a compilation of works created by eighth grade students. The assignment was for them to make a list of significant moments in their young lives and then turn those words and phrases into color, line, pattern, and shape. Each piece was then woven into this final work. It is a stunning weaving and we are in the process of hanging it in the foyer at school.

CAEA 2006

I was able to attend the CAEA Conference in Vail, Colorado. The weaving seen here is from a class about Phillipine Banig Weaving presented by Myrna York. The sculpture is an example from the Master Class "Casting and Moldmaking, Found Object and the Figure" presented by Rik Sargent. In the master class, we made a complete mess of a room with concrete mixing, plaster casting, gluing fall leaves on foam body molds and more! It was terrific!
