i am not handling or eating any chickens
ok... well.... on CNN-europe the big stories are ariel sharonand the fact that the bird flu is moving across turkey towards
europe. i'm not afraid of getting the bird flu, as i am not
hanging around any chicken farms, but i'll be avoiding eating
chicken or eggs until this all passes. you never know where
the eggs came from, in particular-- maybe a village? maybe not?
regardless, i will be eating a lot more beef & fish from here
on out.
the past few days have been really interesting. lots of ups
and downs-- but feeling good right now. it's kurban bayram
right now-- a muslim holıday here in turkey that people
celebrate by the sacrificing of a lamb. i haven't seen any
lambs today, just people walking to each other's homes to
pay visits and share a meal together. i wish i had somewhere
to go other than an internet cafe, but that's OK-- maybe next
bayram.
my roommate, selin (who is fabulous, by the way), is here
at the internet cafe with me. we had been bored out of our
minds at home watching bad NBC-e shows (two and a half men--
why!??!?!?). we thought everything would be closed since
it's bayram, but istiklal caddesi is FULL of people! i was
shocked.
